How to bulk transfer JIRA tickets
The following instructions provide guidance on how to bulk transfer existing JIRA tickets to the new ITS module. You must execute and follow each step in the order described below
1 – Log onto JIRA - https://jira.savethechildren.net/ (to practice this on the UAT environment use: https://jira-uat.savethechildren.net/)
2 – Click on Issues then Search for Issues
3 – Type the following JQL within the search box – substituting the Project by your project. Then click on Search
Project = AMSIII AND issuetype = Incident AND status not in (Closed, Resolved)
4 – This will return the list of all tickets that are currently ‘Open’ (e.g. not closed or resolved)
5- Take an export copy of these tickets by clicking on Export then Excel (Current fields)
Note: in JIRA UAT ‘CSV (Current Fields)’ option
6 – Open the excel file, review it to confirm it has worked successfully, and save it on your machine.
The following steps will show how to bulk transfer the tickets to the ITS module
7 - Click on Tools then the number under Bulk Change
8 – Click on the tick box on the top left, then click on Next
9 – Select Move Issues then click on Next
10 – Change the To project dropdown to Global IT Support (ITS) and ensure the Incident field is shown underneath. Click on Next
11 – Change all Waiting for Customer status to Waiting for Customer Information. Click on Next
12 – Click the retain tick on My Watchers, Urgency, Assignee.
(For Oracle HR tickets change the Security Level to HR)
Remove the Send mail for this update tick.
Click on Next
13 – Review the Confirmation screren and if everything looks okay, click on Confirm
14 – The bulk migration will begin. Click on Refresh to view the progress
15 – When the bulk migration is complete click on Ok, got it
16 – Spot check some tickets by searching for the old ticket number from your excel file and typing it in JIRA.
17 – JIRA will open the ticket with the new ITS number. Review ticket to ensure it looks fine
