How to add new Components in ITS module

This article shows how to add new Component values within the JIRA ITS module.

Note:

Note:

A component value must be added within Scriptrunner first, then to the custom field 'Component(s)'.

Use the following steps:

  1. Log into JIRA

  2. Click on Settings, then Manage Apps

  3. Press gg on your keyboard. This will bring up the JIRA search box, then type in Behaviours. Click on Behaviours listed under Administration

4. This will open up the Scriptrunner behaviours screen

5. Click on the settings wheel next to ITS Service Components - Hide field options and select Edit

6. Scroll down to view the script box. Locate the service that you want to add the component for, e.g. ITO.

7. Add the new component value in alphabetical order. Make sure to enter the component within the double quotation "". In the example below the Solar System component has been added

8. Add all the components required then click on Save. You will see a Saved Successfully message

9. In JIRA type gg on your keyboard, and search for Custom Fields. Then click on Custom fields from the dropdown under Administration

10. Search for Component(s) and click on the settings icon and select Configure

11. Scroll towards the bottom of the page and click on Edit Options

12. Add the new component value within the Add Value field and click on Add

13. Type the position the new component value should be set within the list, based on alphabetical ordering. Then click on Move

14. The component value will be ordered accordingly

15. When finished click on Done

16. Confirm the new value has been added successfully to the component dropdown by checking against a new/existing ITS ticket. You can see below the Solar System component.

Note: To remove an Existing Component follow the below steps:

  1. Do a Search for all the tickets using that component

  2. Assign a different component to those tickets

  3. Remove the component from the Custom Fields menu

  4. Remove the component from the Scriptrunner Behaviour screen (see Step 5 above)

  5. Confirm the component has been deleted by creating a new ticket / searching for that component in JIRA search
